My earliest memories smell like sawdust. Growing up in Montenegro, a small country in Europe, I spent every free hour on a job site with my father and brother. My father was a contractor his whole life. He taught us how to frame a wall plumb, how to get a joint flush and tight, how to leave a finish so clean the client forgets there was ever a problem. But the lesson that stuck with me most had nothing to do with tools. It was the moment a project was done and you saw the client's face light up. That look. That's what I kept chasing.
My main career started in restaurants. I worked as a server, but every free hour I had went right back to helping my father with his next project. There was always another repair, another renovation, another client counting on him.
In 2015, I made the move to New York City. I worked as a maintenance person for a small company during the day and kept my restaurant job at night. Life in the Big Apple was fast. In 2019, I relocated to Naples, Florida, where I met my wife. I got a job at a fine dining restaurant on 3rd Street, and after that, the famous Ritz-Carlton Beach Resort. At the Ritz, every surface had to be flawless. Every repair had to be invisible. Every guest expected perfection. That standard became second nature.
The whole time, I kept doing projects on the side for friends and family. Patching drywall, mounting TVs, painting rooms, swapping out fixtures. Every finished project took me right back to Montenegro, standing next to my father, watching a client smile at the result. I never stopped thinking about it.
For years, I told myself it was just a side thing. But the pull never went away. In 2024, I stopped making excuses. I opened my LLC, launched House Rescue Handyman, and committed to building something of my own.
Today, when I walk into your home, I bring everything my father taught me on those job sites in Montenegro and everything the Ritz-Carlton demanded of its staff. Tight seams, clean cuts, work you can run your hand across and feel the quality. When you call House Rescue Handyman, you get me personally, not a subcontractor. I show up on time, I do the work right, and I don't leave until you're completely satisfied.
